Cameron L. Flournoy

Cameron L. Flournoy’s journey as a filmmaker began in Los Angeles’ Crenshaw district, where at age nine, peering through the viewfinder of a Minolta 35mm camera, he discovered how a simple lens could transform the mundane into the extraordinary. As he turned the focus ring, watching the everyday world shift between clarity and abstraction, this moment would unknowingly shape his future path in visual storytelling. Though Flournoy initially channeled his creative energy into music, his early fascination with visual perspective would later prove prophetic. His path back to filmmaking emerged organically through his musical travels. As he toured and performed, he found himself naturally gravitating toward documenting these experiences on video. What began as personal documentation evolved into crafting music videos, first for his own work then for other artist. By 2010 as digital cinema technology was revolutionizing independent filmmaking, Flournoy found himself at the intersection of music, visual storytelling and the emerging web series format. Unbounded by formal training, Cameron developed a raw distinctive visual style that set his work apart. The authentic, gritty quality of his early projects resonated deeply with audiences, propelling him toward long-form narrative storytelling. Today, whether crafting feature-length narratives or intimate character studies, that same childhood wonder he experienced through the Minolta’s viewfinder remains. Each time Cameron frames a shot he’s still that nine-year-old from Crenshaw discovering how a simple shift in perspective can reveal the extraordinary within the everyday. Cameron now being a director of photography has films, documentaries and music videos to his credit.  At this time Cameron has joined with a small group of entrepreneur’s with years of experience in film production to form My Girl Productions.
